Assisted by a major grant from the Department of Education's Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (FIPSE), Bard has established courses at five associate institutions of higher learning based on the Clemente model. These courses in the humanities serve low-income individuals living near the campuses of the colleges and universities.

Working in collaboration with various state and city organizations, humanities councils, universities, foundations, and community centers, Bard has also offered Clemente Courses in the cities of Anchorage and Fairbanks, AK; Saint Petersburg and Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Lafayette, IN; New Brunswick, NJ; Brooklyn and Poughkeepsie, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Seattle and Spokane, WA; Racine, WI; and the Eastern New York Correctional Facility, a maximum security facility located in Napanoch, NY.
